A statement of political endorsement

I made a resolution at the end of 2019 to be less political in 2020. However, this was somewhat of a mistake seeing as there's a US presidential election this year. So I will make this one statement than try to return to my resolution:

I, Szin, proudly endorse Bernie Sanders for President of the United States.

Why Bernie?
Because he cares about the working class. He doesn't get caught up in the squabbles about intersectional minutae (like Warren does) and yet manages to service the LGBT community, women, minorities and other historically oppressed groups. This is a breath of fresh air at a time when genetic and cultural factors are being seen as more important than class in the caste system we call life (alienating many people both inside and outside these groups, especially young white men who feel emboldened to become white nationalists as a result). He marched with Martin Luther King. He enacted protections for the LGBT community in the 1970s (when homosexuality was still considered a mental illness!) while mayor of Burlington. He deplores the conditions on many Indian reservations and has vowed to help the Native American community rebuild.

Because he supports universal healthcare, which as a Brit I can't imagine living without. Yes, we have private hospitals, but we also have the NHS. I've had so many relatives whose lives have been saved by prompt healthcare. I owe the fact that I still have sight to the NHS. Meanwhile, poor people in the US are being turned away from hospitals if they don't have the money. Even from life-saving treatment in some cases. This, I feel, is inhumane. Healthcare should be a basic human right.

Because he supports peace, a two-state solution to the Israel/Palestine conflict, and doesn't seek to divide the United States in the same way Trump and Hillary did. Trump with his divisive rhetoric and Hillary's blatant pandering to minorities should be things of the past.

And because he speaks from the heart. It's so refreshing to hear a politician being genuine. He wants to get stuff done and done quickly.

So as I toss my lot in with Bernie, I'd love to see more politicians being honest. Not that they ever will, but it's worth a try.

If Bernie once again fails to recieve the Democratic nomination for president, I will urge my American followers to vote third party.
